Philodendron Hederaceum

About

Philodendron Hederaceum are perhaps one of the most common houseplants, but they are also one of the most beautiful in the most simple and pleasing ways.. It is commonly referred to as the Heartleaf Philodendron for it’s heart shaped leaves, which are bound to make you smile. The new growth points on this plant are also slightly pink, so when you get a new leaf, it unfurls as the cutest little pink heart.

We love this plant for a few reasons: they are affordable, low maintenance, easy to propagate, fast growing, and low light tolerant. This is one of our favorite plants to fill a dark corner, because it will tolerate it for a long time. I do suggest having at least a couple plants on hand to rotate in and out of dork corners, so that they can get a chance to get some light under a grow light or in a window.

Plant Care

Growth: Vining

Water: Medium watering needs, simply water when the top layer of soil gets dry.

Climate: Mimic it’s natural tropical environment with a warm and humid location for the best growth. Misting often or placing it with a collection of other tropical plants helps increase the humidity.

Light: Bright indirect light, this plant enjoys getting a good amount us light, however placing it in direct sunlight can burn it’s leaves.

Soil: Fluffy, well draining soil. We keep ours in a mixture of coco coir, perlite, and regular potting soil.

Propagation: Easily propagated through stem cuttings and leaf cuttings
